Your brightness keys still work.
With the flicker guard on, the brightness keys turn the picture down instead of the backlight. Same control, no backlight switching on and off. External screens are set to full brightness when they allow it. More on screen flicker.

Install in five steps.
- Get your key on dimsome.app. It shows up right away and comes by email.
- Download the Mac zip, open it and drag Dimsome into Applications.
- The first time, macOS asks before opening it: go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway.
- Enter your key. The Way of Life mark appears in the menu bar next to the clock.
- Set your wake time and the time you want the screen red. Dimsome does the rest.

Does Dimsome work on Apple silicon and Intel Macs?
Yes. Dimsome runs on macOS 13 Ventura or later, on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs.
Why does macOS ask before opening Dimsome?
This first version is not yet notarised by Apple. Go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and choose Open Anyway once. A notarised version is on its way.
Can I use Dimsome with Night Shift on?
You can, but you do not need to. Dimsome goes further than Night Shift, so most people turn Night Shift off.
Does it work on external monitors?
Yes. The colour filter works on every screen. The flicker guard sets external screens to full brightness when the screen allows it.
